There is a focus on the knowledge of Iyengar and Sivananda yoga through reading materials and lecture. The traditions discussed in this program are Hatha, Sivenanda, Ashtanga, Vinyasa, and Kripalu. Exercise Science and Anatomy and Physiology is instructed by Emily Duckett, MS, LAT, ATC, from the Sports Medicine Department at West Chester University.
Upon successful completion of the course, trainees are eligible to receive a 200 hour R.Y.T. designation from the internationally recognized organization, Yoga Alliance, and may desire to move into a profession of leading/guiding others through their yoga practice. Our summer intensive runs every other weekend and our fall program runs every third weekend. Regular attendance in the weekend modular seminars is mandatory as well as outside readings, assignments, and journaling. Teacher trainees will be expected to develop their personal/home practice and attend yoga classes at least once a week in order to complete the program.
