Yoga Teacher Training

200 Hour YTT

This training is for anyone with approximately 50 hours of asana practice who wishes to deepen his or her commitment and understanding of Yoga theory and practice in a format that allows time for integration of both yoga philosophy and methodology.

Weekends, Sept 6, 2019 - Jan 19, 2020

There is heavy emphasis on anatomy and physiology as well as instruction on how to cue modifications and teach to all populations. Our entire faculty has extensive training, all having earned E-RYT 500, E-RYT 200, or RYT 500 designations. The program is led by Julia Byrem, E-RYT 500, and Lynn Slocomb, E-RYT 200, RYT 500, and complemented by the teachings of The Light Within Yoga Instructors Alison Donley, E-RYT 500, Margaret Bodine, Tracey Eltringham, Patty Jacobs, Pat McKeon, and Jenny Wood (200 E-RYT's, 500 R.Y.T's, or both). There is a focus on the knowledge of Iyengar and Sivananda yoga through reading materials and lecture. The traditions discussed in this program are Iyengar, Sivenanda, Ashtanga Vinyasa, Kripalu, and Hathas. Exercise Science and Anatomy and Physiology is instructed by Emily Duckett, MS, LAT, ATC, from the Sports Medicine Department at West Chester University.

Upon successful completion of the course, trainees are eligible to receive a 200 hour R.Y.T. designation from the internationally recognized organization, Yoga Alliance, and may desire to move into a profession of leading/guiding others through their yoga practice. If interested, or for more information, please contact us.

The Light Within Yoga Studio is a registered Yoga School. The Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) Program consists of seven weekend modules, each comprised of 18.5 “contact” training hours per weekend. The curriculum is designed to afford you the opportunity to complete the program within as little as three (3) months or take as long as twelve (12) months if needed. Our summer intensive runs every other weekend and our fall program runs every third weekend. Regular attendance in the weekend modular seminars is mandatory as well as outside readings, assignments, and journaling. Teacher trainees will be expected to develop their personal/home practice and attend yoga classes at least once a week in order to complete the program. Other requirements include a short research project, group practice teaching, and an open-book final exam.

Alison Donley’s lifetime experiences with Yoga, Mindfulness, and Meditation blend together to bring you the best resources and training suited to prepare anyone looking to deepen their personal practice or share yoga with others. The course workbook and supplemental reading are both comprehensive of topic and easy to cover. But the real gem of the YTT programs is Alison. I have practiced yoga sporadically for over 30 years, experiencing a variety of teachers and styles of yoga. It is at The Light Within Yoga Studio that I truly began to build my yoga practice and deepen my understanding of what it means to practice yoga. Alison’s YTT Program emphasizes the history of yoga, the theory supporting it and the anatomy and physiology behind creating a safe practice. She guides the student in building a foundation that supports both a personal practice and the student’s growth towards becoming a yoga teacher. Alison accomplishes this with a focused yet compassionate approach, never sacrificing the integrity of a safe and enriching yoga practice. I am so grateful for the opportunity to participate in this program!
